Most expensive muscle car ever ?
« on: May 21, 2021, 06:58:21 PM »
'71 Cuda Hemi convertible got to $4.8 big ones at Mecum Indy just now, didn't meet the reserve yet (rumored to be $5.5M).

Somebody has money this day and time - just wouldn't give enough, unless a behind-the-curtain deal goes down.

Regards,
Steve

Wasn't Ken Miles' race winning GT-350R bid and sold for over 5 mil? Nothing against a Hemi 'Cuda, 'I' would not pay that much for one. IF I was super rich, and 5 million was to be paid for a car, I would go for a GT-40 or a comp 427 Cobra. Just me...

Corvettes, Cobras and GT-40's are not muscle cars.

The Ken Miles GT-350R sold in 2020 for $3.5m plus fees.

A 1971 4spd Hemi Cuda convertible (which I believe is the same one in today's auction) sold in 2014 for 3.5M plus fees.

Same car - previous sale was mentioned, that's a pretty good increase in value over 7 years. I was surprised at the high reserve.

The ones I'm waiting on are auctioning today - Lots S102.1, .2, and .3 - sequentially as they are all by the same owner, 1967 Chevy ll Nova SS L79's (3 of the 6 built in '67). Gonna be interesting -

Steve

Correct. Cobras, GT-40s, and Corvettes are not Muscle Cars. 'I' was only pointing out for 5 million I would not buy a Hemi 'Cuda. For that sum of cash, a GT-40, Cobra or a Grand Sport 'Vette would be in my garage instead...IF I was super rich! lol

5 mil I believe would put a couple of X66 Yenko's/Berger double COPO's, a Ferrari 288 GTO, a 69 L89 Camaro, a loaded 69 L78 Camaro convertible, a 70-71 HEMI 4 spd coupe, 57 airbox vette, a 69 L88 and perhaps a 69 L88 in the garage.
