I was recently able to obtain a large amount of original paperwork for 124378L339666 which was sold from Sunset Chevrolet in Sumner, WA. As a side note, my wife's aunt and uncle lived close to this dealership.
This is a Butternut Yellow coupe, with base 327 and the following options. 4 speed, power steering, Z21 style trim, D91 and D96 stripes, tinted glass, door edge guards, Z23 special interior group, deluxe seat belts, console, AM radio. It was delivered with N96 Mag-Style wheel covers but they were removed before the sale. It did get undercoated, polished and serviced by the dealership before the sale to the owner - Linda F. Vaughn (I don't think this was the famous one).
A fellow CRG member (Warren L.) helped me get the package which included.
The dealer manilla folder with VIN sticker on folder tab from their original files.
Dealer Copy of Car Shipper
Chassis Broadcast Copy
Body Broadcast Copy
New Vehicle Inspection and Adjustment Schedule with POP imprint and key codes (2 pages) dated 5/24/68
New Car Service order to provide new car service, clean and polish dated 6/27/68
Dealer Invoice date 6/29/68
2 Dealer Service work orders. One is dated 4/10/69 to "refinish grill and headlight doors. paint peeled off. was no primer on surface? paint would not stay on. sand thoroughly and refinish." Second one is dated 8/27/69 to "fix leak in exhaust, replace gasket at h.r. valve. also check starting system, fails at times."
The window sticker and POP book were not part of the package, but are not really needed to prove what this car was originally. The drivetrain date stamp details are on the POP imprints are on the vehicle inspection and service docs.
This is a good set of docs for CRG research.
If you all have any paperwork you can share, CRG would like to have it but we would keep it confidential and for research only - if that’s what you want.
