Smokey had a fixture to clearance BB rocker arms for use on SB. I believe the reasoning was a BB has an advertised ratio of 1.7 but has a nominal lift of just over 1.5...

Your talking about the 'leverage'. A rocker ratio of say 1.7 compared to 1.6 is where the tip rolls across the valve is very important. Also, remember the BB Chevy, Boss 302/Cleveland engines have canted valves compared to the standard inline valve set ups. Different geometry altogether. Keep this in mind: the 1.7 ratio will increase your effective camshaft 'lift' by approx 8% over the 1.6 rockers.
