L48 fuel lines

I bought the AC filter and the 3 lines kit from ricks and seems the 3/8 lines are to long. Attaching one to fuel pump and other to carb the lines actually touch where the filter should be? What's wrong here?

Same answer you got on Camaro.net. Factory fuel lines never had a filter. It was a screen in the carb.

If that's the answer you got on TC, then it's wrong. The 1969 L48 engine (as well as the L34 and L35) had a separate fuel filter as shown below.

As for why it's not the correct size, you'll need to contact the vendor you got it from and ask them.

I went through three different restoration gas line manufacturers before I found the set that would actually come close to bolting up to work without tweaking. Not all are created equally ! Try Inline - they make good stuff. Be sure and seat the flare fittings correctly, particulalry on the carb - and I'd use steel rather than stainless. Seats easier, in my opinion -

The assembly manual shows 2 different part numbers. One for sb the other bb. And as I look at ricks catalog I see same thing 2 different part number bb/sb. And as I look closer the bb lines have blue protector caps and the sb have red. Guess what I have blue capped bb lines. Guess what I ordered sb lines. .....with red caps. Ha Rick's will be getting a call Monday

Slight conflict with Rick's Camaro. They pulled both BB and SB fuel lines and they are saying the is minute differences with BB being fractionally longer. I did some research and the BB is 2 inches taller from center line of crank to top of China wall. Wouldn't the BB lines be longer then?  Any one know the actual difference?

I don't know the answer to your question, but if Rick's can't help you, try a different vendor. I usually deal with the Truck and Car Shop in Anaheim, CA. They have great customer service and might be willing to measure both for you. Of you can try Steve's Camaros. Steve's a great guy and always tries to help. Finally, if neither of these can help, try Classic Muscle.

I wouldn't even bother to ask Classic Industries or Heartbeat City.

Tell them you don't want the overall length. You're looking for the HEIGHT of the line going from the fuel pump to the filter. The overall length might be similar, but because of the bends, the HEIGHT may be different. Also have them check the height of the line going from the filter to the carb. Not the length, but the height.

Steve's camaros shut it down.He was 1 of the best in the business. Internet got him. To hard to compete. You might of paid a couple bucks more but the wealth of knowledge he has far surpassed a couple bucks.

I am sure you already thought about just bending your own line up using the 1 you purchased as a template, just change the bend or length how you want it?

I've used Camaro Central out of Richmond, KY for a good while, check them out online. I bought the filter for my L48 from them, repro of the AC filter, fit perfectly and sealed fine. I struggled with similar problems until I figured it out, even tried bending my own until I realized it takes a better bending tool than i could afford at the time. 3/8's steel fuel lines in short segment, small radii bends are tough without a good tool, believe me.
