Yes, they do.  When I purchased my car, there was water coming into the trunk, and after a while I figured out that it coming in around one of the spoiler mounting holes (a stud had broken off).   I had a pretty difficult time finding a replacement stud and nut (a type of shoulder nut).   Here are photos showing both a short and long spoiler stud and the nuts, and looking at the first photo, it does appear that there's a 'slight dog-point' tip on the studs.

Jim, assume your referencing your 69, correct? Do either of your 68's have spoiler? If so, do they have dog point long studs?

Pictures of rear spoiler mounting. October 68 LOS built. Short spoiler and short stripes (Stripe dimensions match assembly manual).
Spoiler bolts I think are dog ear. See picts.

It is my belief that:
The  68 short spoiler #3916633 GM spoiler 40-2259-GB uses; Three lengths of Studs,
Double ended, 1/4-20unc x X (plus 1/4")" x 1/4-12, 1/4-20unc machine screw thread end Dog Point, 1/4-12 wood screw thread, blunt.

Qty: Y
Length: X (Exposed Machine Thread- including dog point)
Root Length: Equal __1/2"__ on ALL  (Root is the wood screw thread portion- Blunt)

The Stud at emblem position is the Med, The studs at the deck lid edge are the Shorts, the remainder of the studs are Longs;

Shorts: Y = 4 each, X = 1/2"
Meds:  1 each, X = 1"
Longs: 3 each, X = 1-1/4"

Dog points machined to thread root diameter and length appx equal to or less than 1/4"

The nice thing is the hardware aftermarket  is fully supported via McMaster-Carr 1/4-20 x 3" Hanger Bolt Zinc Plated can be sourced and machined via a lathe  or other means to replicate damaged or missing studs. 1 package contains 25 each, HXA04096MC     90207A310   Cut down and turned as needed to replicate replacements as a DIY

69's seem to be a different animal (Not Dog point end)

Both My 68s have owner modified early in life with Short Spoiler of GM fabrication & are both equipped as described above.

My 69Z11 have studs like Gary's 69Z.

In your photo of the right side spoiler studs - there appears to be weld beads or brazing in the exact place one would normally expect to see holes or emblem studs.

The weld beads on the right side spoiler studs appear to be brazed. The beads are brass in color and would be where the deck lid "Camaro" emblem would
have been mounted. My car (hugger orange) did not come with a deck lid "Camaro" emblem. The build sheet lists "05D80AA",  Air spoiler equipment
as one of the options.

When a car, such as yours, is factory equipped with a spoiler, the 2nd set of holes for the emblem is not optional, they were done by the same "combination drill tooling" at the same time the deck lid was drilled for the spoiler.


According to a post on the subject by: JohnZ

 "The second set of emblem holes were fixture-drilled in the Body Shop, using the same combination drill fixture used for the spoiler attaching holes, before the body went to the Paint Shop."

Good to know, interesting fact. By the way my deck lid stripes do not extend
to the bottom of the trunk lid, as seen on other 69z's.

Correct, they should not extend to the bottom of the trunk lid

My apologies, the rear deck stripes do extend to the bottom back of the trunk lid.
The paint is original as well. I have never seen any indications of a rear end
accident as well.

ASM69:   The cars that had their spoiler 'factory installed', do NOT have stripes under the spoiler (and the stripes do not extend onto the rear of the deck lid - the stripes were masked at the bottom of the spoiler.   Your car also has the 'holes' in the deck lid that were factory punched for emblems; yours are brazed up.   That is not 'factory either.   Your spoiler was perhaps installed by the dealer or sometime after that.

the rear glass (as though it had a vinyl top) maybe the excess stripe material covered the area under the rear spoiler and extending down the
back of the trunk lid.  I hope your can follow that. It's a thought.
