68 Yenko L72 block deck stamps

No specific car - It just came popped in my head, were all the swapped 68 L72 short block's CE's?
Or as just dawned on me, there could have been 68 L72 short blocks with production 68 L72 codes correct?
Or perhaps there was a list of every assembly stamp for swaps for warranty purposes and I am spinning my wheels over nothing?

Just thinking - Has a 68 Yenko ever been found with another block with a 68 L72 suffix, like a caprice or biscayne suffix on the block in the car?

They should be all over the counter short blocks. It’s possible some early ones had blank pads because CE didn’t start until the 1968 model year (August / September 1967).

I recently saw a sept 67 351 4 bolt block with a CE assembly stamp. I should be committed as I passed on it for $100, all because I didn't want to lug it around, however when I came to my senses and went back, it was of course sold.

Is that date known for when the CE code was first stamped on a block? I see some articles say 1967 and others say 1968

The 'CE' and 'CT' stamps were initiated by GM prior to the '68 model year in order to satisfy a state of Georgia requirement that major replacement components be uniquely identified.  So Sept '67 would be near the beginning of that GM action.

I have a Sept of 67 CE 396 block. So far I have not seen one stamped August of 67, but some could exist.
