Radius rod forward bracket to frame screw
« on: January 06, 2021, 10:43:26 PM »
Im trying to add a radius rod to my car.  On the forward bracket, what does this tapered screw in to in the frame?  Right now I just have about a 9/16" hole, too big to catch any threads.  Is there a cage nut like the front leaf spring perch?  If so, how do I get it in?

I pulled this from the 67 Camaro AIM, looks like the bolt passes through the hole and has washers and a nut holding it. Sorry if this is incorrect.

If I remember right, I think there is a threaded blind insert nut in the side hole for the bolt to screw into.
I'll check my '67's later.

Dang, it’s going to be tight getting a nut on this screw (#19 in the AIM page provided).  I can only fit one finger in the frame hole to hold a nut.

Some type insert nut would be easier for sure.

Thank you for that part number.  Can you elaborate on this: “Hard part is the install tooling; Commercial or DYI”?  Is the tool needed for this nutsert different than the common “OTC” install tools?  Thanks

Yep....I checked and see the round collar of the blind nut. View C in the above diagram confirms that.

A special installation tool isn't needed. There's several videos on Youtube .
