Mike -

I compared your photo to my original 266 distributor (dated 7A25) and it looks real to me.  I would run it by Jerry for an expert's opinion.

No.  July 20, 1967 would work for a '67 Z/28 or an early '68 Z/28.

Of course, I would have Jerry verify that this is a "good" date for a 266 distributor.

It's real and a good date.  This one only came in early 68 Z28s.  It's the same one that's in my white survivor.

Is it for sale?  We're always looking.

I made an offer on it and wanted to make sure it was good. Too late for my car, but I'll use it until I find or trade for one that works for me.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

Well I got it today and it's the real deal. The wire that goes to the coil is cut as seen in the picture.
It is also missing the vacuum advance.

Jerry

Do you have any earlier 266 distributors for an 05D 67z?
How much to send this one out to you for a rebuild and correct parts?

I'm curious, how much did it cost?

Paul, Mike may not want to disclose what he paid, so I can relay my current experience with these distributors.  This one was offered to me and another '67 Z guy that I know a few weeks ago before the Team Camaro ad but I passed due to the date and the fact that I have a few 7A25 dated units now.  Given that it's a '68 only date, I put the value at between $750 and $1,000 as is.  The '67 dated distributors are the hardest part to find for a '67 Z and very few change hands.  I bought 2 recently for $2,500 each I am waiting on delivery of a third that I just paid $2,750 for.  I was offered $5,000 for one a few months ago.

Hey Jerry,

Im certain you have my info on my 07c 67 Z.... I did give you the info. on this car a year or so back when I was at your shop. I actually gave you a pencil tracing of the cowl tag and hidden vins. Im out of the country at the moment, but when I get back, Ill give you a call and forward a foto of the cowl tag if youd like. Im sure Kurt has this in the database and I believe Jon Mellow knows of this car also. Its a 17,000 mile white car...low option...with shoulder belts...and cowl plenum...I got a complete dated NOS MO 302 from Smokeys auction with the car. Ive actually posted on camaros.net in the past asking if there were any other 07c cars known. Unfortunately the day you were at my garage, I only had the other 2 Z,s there...I was in the process of changing garages and did not yet bring this car home yet...so to speak...I wish you could have seen it.  I did mention it in passing while you were there. Could you double check your records and let me know if you need the info. again. Anyway, can I assume this distributor will not work for my car. Too late??

  thanks, max

I paid a little more than what Zedder said. It is a very clean original unit.

Max

I am not sure if this date is good for that late of a 67. I just wanted a real one for my car.
I would trade for the right one.:)

Hey jonesy,

I am hoping Jerry chimes in to let me know if your distributor will work for my car...I suspect not. The NOS motor I got with the car is complete from carb to pan including exhaust manifolds, and is dated perfect for my car and has never been stamped with a VIN, unfortunately the distributor included is the only part that is not correct on the motor. (and of course the most expensive part!!)
I am in South America until May 1 anyway, but I will check the distributors that I have when I get home and let you know.     thanks
