ZP2 option
« on: February 08, 2020, 12:38:33 PM »
Was dark blue interior (715) one of GM recommended  choices  for a 69 camaro lemans blue (71) car.
If not, i would imagine a zp2 option was required for that change.

Reading the color and stripe application on the crg site ,what is a default colour (not on GM colour chart)?

Thanks

For Le Mans blue, only black and white interiors were "...established as the combinations that would be attractive to the average customer." Other combinations could be ordered but required a corroborating statement [ZP2] in the special instruction section of the order form. Most cars were ordered for dealer stock and it was in the best interest of all involved to stick to what sold quickly. Two-tones and vinyl top combos could not be over-ridden.

That was how Chevrolet built a Fathom Green car with a yellow hounds tooth interior and a Hugger Orange car with a green interior.

Default means stripe color was not elective. The chart has a few errors; also may have changed over the production run. There were a few special paint Z/28s built with non-standard stripe colors.

As Bill indicates, ZP2 was not an option, it was a 'confirmation' code to show that the combination was confirmed.

A friend of mine had a LeMans blue 69 Z with blue interior. I will have to see if I have any interior shots. This was back in 75, I doubt it was changed.

Can't think why blue on blue wasn't considered an attractive combination without needing confirmation.

If it is any consolation, a review of Le Mans blue cars in the db shows blue interiors [17%] about tied with white [18%].

My second edition Camaro White Book shows Blue as a suggested interior color for all shades of blue in 1969. I don't think that a confirmation was required for suggested color combo's.
I can't seem to find suggested color combos on CRG, is it here somewhere?

In 1968 blue interior was on the list for Lemans Blue. Strange that it was removed in 1969 yet 17% of the LMB cars had it.
