837 Alternator - Legit?
« on: January 29, 2020, 07:39:08 PM »
Is this 837 Alternator stamping original?

I have an 04B LA Built Z, (V0328DZ engine build date).   I think this date would be good for this engine build date for the LA Plant?

You mean THIS ONE?

You're going to need to contact the seller and post a much better picture (higher resolution and in focus) to get an accurate opinion.

Beware! That seller ID is one of several accounts used by the same individual from TN.
Read this: https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=140881
Long discussion but gives you an insight into how far some folk will go to deceive, and the multiple names and accounts being used.
And always be suspicious when the stamp area has a different (shinier, in this example) patina to the rest of the item. They'll say they cleaned it up to show the numbers better, but....
Many descriptions say 'how I received it' (or similar) in an attempt to dodge any responsibility for any manipulation of numbers.

Thanks all - which is why I was asking.  This day and age with the quality of cameras, no excuse not to provide high resolution image.

9B19 is a common date for COPOs built in the range N606xxx-N617xxx and typically sells at a premium over other 837s. That makes it an attractive date for re-stampers.

I would want a very good pic.

Learning more and more about less and less...

Walk away.  4 changed to a 7 and I believe the second 9 has been altered.

Agree on the attractive date code - which is why I was suspicious with the BIN price....seemed low.

Good catch on the second 9...doesn't really match the first 9.

Just a friendly reminder for everyone.  As we talk about these stampings and dates as known or acceptable others are watching and taking notes..  We all are trying to help each other but we just need to limit the amount of info that is shared publicly from those that worked hard to collect this knowledge to help the honest folks in the community.  Bad apples are among us and have been for years and they are trying to hone their crafts of cheating and forgery..
