If it is legit, and I am not mistaken this would be one of, if not the earliest D80 tag known.

Well that's the thing right? the tag looks good, but no other D80 are known that early.

Thanks William for the explanation

If you read all the caveats that are listed with the VIN data, they do NOT correlate to build weeks. Or more accurately, build weeks don't always match the calendar.

One needs to remember that the 'build week' is the 'scheduled build week' which is assigned (by Fisher production) shortly after they get the order from Chevrolet division.  Some times it turns out exactly right, but other times 'things' interfere... ie. 'sold' orders take precedence over dealer orders, certain parts shortages, etc...

If you've ever special ordered a car, within a couple of days, the dealer can tell you an 'expected' time, based on the scheduled build week', but as the time draws near when it's being built-, they give you a more exact time.

Yes, that happens. But that doesn't affect how build weeks fit (or not fit) the calendar.
