The previous owner had this car before Dave for about 48 years. He no longer has any cars that are older than the late 70's and 80's. So not sure what happened to all those cars you mentioned. I have spent HOURS and HOURS on this car. The picture I posted is after I cut and polished the whole car by HAND! I will be starting a post hopefully soon. Gotta get a lot of pictures organized. The cars referenced are cars DAVE and I looked at back in 2016... not cars owned by this guy. (though he would have been a far better care taker than some of the other people)
FWIW I have AND MARK BULAW has tried to get Dave to clean, detail, and polish his cars, however he appears to be afraid of hurting any original paint. -
After I was out there and worked on the Lemans Blue L78 conv, it looked 10 times better after only 2 applications of Meguires number 7 and I told him to put another couple of coats into the paint to rehydrate it. He couldn't believe the interior came out clean and the paint shined...
I wanted to do the Yellow Yenko, the Silver 69 RS/Z with original paint, the 26k mile white white RS/SS air conv, and the White Red 69 350 4 speed survivor too... killer cars which really need 40-60 hours of detailing.
I realize 100 pct original paint is cool and all
BUT
Personally I would rather have a VERY presentable 90pct original paint car than to have a 98 pct original paint car that has scratches, dents and missing paint...
I know ALL about correcting and polishing original GM Metallic Lacquers and getting them glossy...
Meguires number 7 and then selective hand polishing using swirl remover.
