I am new in the forum and just bought a 1967 camaro in Peru which as per the codes is a camaro ss/rs.
It is lacking most of emblems and clearly it has been dissembled and assembled back.
The engine number in the papers is V0516M57N224653 which Rich Fields helped me understand it’s a a 350 ci manual transmission for Super Sport, built in Flint MI on May 16
I still have the doubt if the engine is the original or if it was changed. How can I know that?
The casting number is 3892657 which understand could be either a 327 or 350, so still not sure if the engine is 327 or 350.

Mr. Fields is correct in his decoding - your engine code sequence listed above is probably an "MS" suffix, not "M5", which would be the correct code for a 350/295hp SS block, manual transmission without smog equipment, which is also correct for a Norwood built '67 SS (California mandated AIR equipment in '67 for manual cars, not so in Norwood until '68). If your stamped VIN 1N224653 on the block matches your car's VIN tag, you should have a winner, barring a restamp. If the block has been decked, it could still be the original if the date code precedes the build date of the car (check out the pad in the front of the passenger side head). Post up a few pics and we'll be glad to try to help you sort it out. Don't get put off if you have problems posting them, just keep your pic size within the file size limits and number of pics per post, and you'll get there.
The 657 block was also used for the Z28's 302, by the way. You can find this in the Engine section, decoding engine codes in the CRG research areas in the Home page.
