69 camaro A/C differences

Hello all:

Switching my sb ac car to 427 power but want to retain it's factory a/c system. What is different at the firewall (obviously engine mounts and hoses are different). TIA  jess

Motor mount frame brackets
All engine bracketry; alternator, power steering, compressor
Transmission crossmember…TH400 or 4-speed, each unique to BB
BB 4-speed shifter used a different mounting bracket & rods
Accelerator rod
Line to oil pressure gauge
Battery cables
Radiator & shroud…A/C BBs had an additional shroud mounted in the frame
Power steering pump reservoir
Front springs
Exhaust system engine pipes

Questions.....

let's see.....
A/C housing on the firewall   (is this just the engine side of the box, it's commercially available?)
Motor mount frame brackets  (covered, got a 35 yr old NOS BB set)
All engine bracketry; alternator, power steering, compressor (got bits and pieces )
Transmission crossmember…TH400 or 4-speed, each unique to BB (got 400 crossmember, they're same bb/sb?)
BB 4-speed shifter used a different mounting bracket & rods (n/a, using 400 automatic)
Accelerator rod (got repop bb rod, will it mate up to tripower?)
Line to oil pressure gauge (repop available?)
Battery cables(repops?)
Radiator & shroud…A/C BBs had an additional shroud mounted in the frame(anybody got pics of these?)
Power steering pump reservoir(available?, have original sb pump and reservoir)
Front springs (best pic, part numbers?)
Exhaust system engine pipes(good aftermarket with chrome tailpipes?)

Don't know much about A/C components

There never was a 1st Gen sb/TH400 combo. If you have a GM part, it's for a bb.
The oil pressure line is just longer for a bb
BB radiators had a 23" core; sb is 21". You probably need a 4 core, technically available in repro. The lower shroud is depicted in the '69 Camaro AIM section C60 page B4. I have been involved with '69s for 43 years and have never seen one.
Everything else is available in repro.

The baffle or shroud did exist. I've seen pictures of originals. I have holes in my chassis where it was. There was a guy making a short run of them a few years back. A little pricey but I needed one for my car....bought it....Joe

Thanks everyone, I thought that A/C cars had extra baffles on the ends of the radiator support (this car had/has them) but I had forgotten about reading about the above mentioned shield. HBCity offers one http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/store/product/28311/1969-Camaro-Air-Conditioning-Shield-396/    .  Anyone got a recommendation on bb exhaust system with chrome tips?

Yep, open headlight cars. RS has a different configuration.

The BB AC suitcase is different from the small block.
You can not just put an engine side reproduction BB cover on a SB suitcase, you have to change the whole suitcase and they are not available reproduction.

Wow, I've been interested in, owned, and tinkered with camaros for 40 years and did not know that! Is there a thread here, (or on another site) that shows the differences? Or maybe just some comparison pics? Thanks guys, learning more all the time.

FYI, back in November there were a few guys over at the TC site saying they "couldn't give away" 69 A/C components, if you're looking for bits and pieces, NFI:

The AIM is probably another decent reference for BBC versus SBC components.

Read the fine print. Check with reliable parts sellers before you try and fit a BB inner case cover on a SB case.

jt, the big block accelerator rod will not work on the tripower. I made a custom one for mine but don,t like it. I am going to order a 67 vette tripower rod and try that. My BB rod was the original L78 rod that I did not want to modify. To look correct the 67 vette rod might work or since yours is a repop you might can do something.

Thanks Kelly, probably be a while before I get to that part,  btw, love your car. I imagine you get a lot of "wow"s when you open the hood.
