tags inside of door panels...
« on: August 27, 2018, 03:16:59 PM »
Can someone point me to the discussion regarding the tags found often on the metal face after removing a door panel.
If I am not mistaken they are service tags for glass adjustment -warranty billings.

FWIW I searched - service tag, warranty tag, window tag,

Dealers were submitting warranty claims for window adjustments - and not doing anything. So GM added the stickers and required them with the claim.

Can you please post a pic of the stickers. I saw some on my White 69 doors not sure if it is just manufacturing sticker, or the glass adjustment. thanks

Pictures HERE, and I believe this started in the 1969 model year.

I did not notice anything on our 01B 68 NOR car doors, hence the question on when it started.

I've not seen any on my 05D Los Angeles 68, but then again, it may not have been in for adjustment.

My understanding is that the stickers were put on all cars at the time of assembly, not at the time of any adjustment.
If adjustment under warranty was necessary, the dealer workshop had to remove (part or all of) the sticker and submit to zone with the payment claim, to prove the door trim had been removed.
So, if a car has no sticker, maybe it did have adjustment under warranty. But all four?

I looked at the stickers on the other post. Any idea what the numbers mean? Maybe the week of the year?

That actually makes sense.

Mine's a convertible and we all know what a PITA adjusting the glass on a convertible is so maybe all 4 had to be adjusted? Maybe at different times too, not all at the same time? You never know...
