I went to a smaller one in NC a few years back and they had alternaters, carbs, and muncies on pallets sitting in the field. Bidding started crazy but by noon they were asking for starter bids. You ought to try loading a L78 complete short block into a pickup by hand. (It was a Chevelle block by the way).
