Member of Forum passed away and a Emergency Kit question
« on: July 14, 2018, 03:27:54 AM »
Hi, I just wanted to reach out since I saw my Uncle posted in this forum quite a bit. His screen name was Ron C. Just wanted to let you know he passed away in October. His White 67 Z28, Red 67 RS Z28 (and his 71 Chevelle) he did leave to me and I will be keeping them and hopefully making him proud by continuing to show them.

That being said, I do have a question, we found an original GM Emergency Kit for Chevy Cars from 62-72. Is there a specific spot in the trunk where it should be placed for shows? (We aren't keeping it in the car all the time due to the flares, just when we go to shows)

Thank you in advance for your help with my question!

Ron C.'s niece........Tina C.

Hi Tina, sorry to hear of your loss - though belated, thoughts are with you and your family members.
Glad to hear you will continue to enjoy the cars passed on from Ron. I often think of us as custodians rather than owners!

Hi Tina,

I am very sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He and I exchanged notes on our cars quite a few times. Thank you for informing those of us who did not know.

It would be great if you are able to continue his passion.

Yes, we are continuing. I actually just joined the AACA today and they transferred his 67 RS Z28 into my name so I can keep the Senior award. This allows me to go for the Preservation Award and Grand National Awards.

I may need to pick your brain though when it comes to his White 67 Z, when the time comes.

At a car show right now, so will have to check my Uncle's paperwork tonight or after tomorrow's car show to see what dealership. I know it is a Norwood built car.

Medallion Chevrolet, Ware, Massachusetts. Just curious on the questions you are asking about the white car, did you have one too?

There was a white '67 Z for sale at Hershey about 20 years ago, black interior. I think the owner was in a wheel chair.

Oh, ok. I knew this wasn't a Yenko car. My uncle would have let me know if that was that case. Good luck in your search for it though!

Tina, Sorry to hear about Rons passing. Ware Mass is one town away form me. It's a small town. I know nothing about that dealership as it may have been gone for a long while (I was born in 1970). I will ask some older guys when I get to some shows to see if anybody knows anything about it.

Truly sorry to hear about your loss.
It is great that you are keeping it in the family and showing it in AACA.
There are a handful of AACA members here in the forum. If you have questions,  ask away.
As for the GM Emergency Kit,  the normal rule of thumb in AACA is to not display an unattached accessory unless it is in original condition as you will get a one point deduction for condition. But since you already have your Senior, a one point deduction is no big deal. Never seen one on a Camaro,  but the two I have see were right next to the spare.
BTW, those kits bring a small fortune on EBay!
