While it's a nice car, it does have several issues and in my opinion, is priced around 30k too much. The car was on ebay on May 29th, 2013. It was being sold by the person that did the restoration. The car sold, and the buyer was a dealer out of Ft Myers, FL that turned around and tried to sell it at the Mecum (Dallas) September, 2013 auction. It didn't sell and the high bid at that time was $52k. He then put it on ebay on September 20th, 2013 but I don't know if it sold. It then showed back up at Mecum (Kissimmee) for the January, 2014 auction, where it sold for $66,960.00. I have no more info after that.
From the pictures I have, the engine's correct but the transmission isn't. The rear axle may be original as well, but there aren't any pictures of the axle tube stamp, just the carrier gear (a 4.56 ratio), and it's dated February, 1968. While that's 3 months before the car was built, it's still possible.
As I stated, there are a lot of incorrect items that would need to be fixed for it to be a high dollar car. If you're really interested in purchasing, I would
HIGHLY suggest you have Jarry MacNeish inspect the car.
I've seen several '68 Muncies with a suffix stamp, lower case, not the same font size as the rest of the stamps.
That's not a suffix code. It's believed to be just a place holder that was used in the gang stamp.
And for future searches, the VIN is 124378N434684
