Muscle Car Review - July 2018, Readers Rides
« on: June 19, 2018, 04:57:49 PM »
After finishing my oh so long project early last year.... it feels like it was worth it to get my car in Muscle Car Review this month... not a feature but a Readers Rides...if you are a subscriber... you may already have this issue (with the yellow Dodge on the cover).

Worked hard on so many details, this site helped me out with so many questions to make sure I got it as right as I could.... if I was gonna do it, I was gonna do it right...

thanks to everyone here who provided insight (and opinions)

and this car was born WITHOUT a posi....a 3.07 open rear end.....still a Muscle Car....

Very nice looking car. I tried to buy a yellow/yellow 69 SSRS similar to yours years ago in Santa fe NM.  The car was sitting out side his home and you could see it from the freeway. I left a note on the windshield asking if he would like to sell it and continued the 150 miles home. A couple of days later, he called me and said yes he would take10k for it.  I grabbed some cash and my trailer and hauled @ss the 2.5 hours to go pick it up, I had always wanted a Yellow Houndstooth car & thought it would be the perfect book end to my Daytona Yellow 69 Z.  8) When I got there he wouldn't answer the door or his phone even though it was obvious he was home. I sat outside that flakes house about 2 hours trying to get in touch with him. I finally drove off and went to a gas station about 2 minutes form his house and tried calling again and this time he answered right away. When I told him who I was. he made up some BS story about just getting home & I asked to come get the car. He said he didn't have time right now, even though he knew I drove all that way. I told him I was only 2 minutes from his house and asked if I could at least come get a closer look at the car? He agreed and let me come look. He originally told me on the phone it was a #'s car but when I got there it mysteriously had a engine swap. lol.. It was a little ruff but I really wanted the car, had cash in hand and en empty trailer but the guy just wouldn't sell it to me. He told me I needed to come back another day. All I can figure is, sometime after hanging up the phone with me originally when he told me he wanted 10k I guess changed his mind about selling it?? I can understand that, but a simple phone call would have been nice to let me know before I made the trip. Some people...  ::)

Here are a few other pics.... to those who asked.

yep...never really done.... but really happy where it is.... just took 20 years to get there..... whole story in the magazine...(I will scan and post)

Had to work with PPG to get the yellow right... the local rep had never done Daytona Yellow... so there were a few test mixes that went back and forth with headquarters to get it right.... some people don't like yellow... but this yellow is really something... not mustard, not butter... just a really sharp yellow..... they did it right in 69....

I totally agree...   Daytona yellow is the best yellow ever...   other than maybe 'mixing yellow'..  :)
