on the 68 intake 610 manifold what is the 1/2" threaded hole toward the back used for?

Are you referring to the manifold vacuum hole for the booster?...Joe

What application was that intake used for?
ex: if it is Z/28, then I would specify, that you are trying to put together a stock Z/28 manifold and want to know what goes in the 1/2" hole by the distributor. The more details you can use in your question, the better the chance guys will respond to help you out.

I only say this because I have seen guys ask very basic questions, and not get a response. Then they think were all stuck up or something for not answering.

I don't have a 68 (yet) so I can't help you out on your question

Damn Austin..  '610 is a 67/8 Z intake..  To answer the OP's question which has already been sorta answered with a question is yes, the brake booster vacuum port (unless someone has drilled and tapped another hole for some unknown reason).  Im also pretty sure it's 3/8" NPT but someone can correct if I am wrong on the size.

I guess my answer was a little short. The fitting that goes there could also be a secondary supply for RS as well as power brake booster if his Z/28 is equipped with RS. Fitting would have 2 connectors, one vacuum hose for RS & the other a larger barb. Large barb hex if only power brakes...Joe

All I was saying to the OP is that not every guy that has a 67-68 Z even knows all the part numbers on his own car. I have seen guys post questions and not get any response from anyone, because they will list just a part number by itself.
Sorry if it came off rude. A new member listed a part number he was looking for a couple of weeks ago, didn't give much detail as to what it was, and didn't post a pic. I waited a bit and noticed he wasn't getting any responses. So I asked him a few questions because I tried searching the number with little results.

I guess I could have looked the part number up, seen what the application was then figured out it was a 67-68 Z intake and then came back on and told him it was for the power brakes. Maybe thats me being lazy... or the OP?

The reason I said “damn Austin” was because the original poster gave a description and a part number.  That was more than enough info to get his answer.  Your post was worthless and not needed honestly.  Not trying to be a dick but come on man.  If you don’t know what is being discussed then why make a post?  Let’s not spiral this thread any further down than it needs to be.  A question was asked and an answer was given. If you wanna discuss it off line then I will be glad to.

Man how many times do I have apologize here?
SORRY he did say it was a "intake", (with partial part number) guess I should have tried to look it up and figured it out before posting, instead of having him tell me what motor it was used on.

Many times members don't even respond to guys questions. (I posted at the same time Joe did, and didn't see his response.)

Next time I will make sure someone isn't posting more info at the time. (usually there is warning sign that pops up, guess i missed it)

Don't want to make anymore "useless" posts...
