From what I read that 4L just started when this car was made.

What that means is there where a few early Z/28's with the code 4P before they broke it down to further define the code.
All 1967 Z's had a 4 code.
Lack of any 4 code means it is a 327 car at this point with a 124 VIN start.

The problem is my friend is looking for another Camaro to add to his collection of cars which is many worth big $$$$$$$$. I have a 1967 Mo 302 that I am in the process of finishing after the motor has been in the family since 1970. I would love to see my friend get it with a nice 67 but I think I am looking for a needle in a very big hay stack. The car I was looking at was all hacked up and he was asking 10k. Yep there is some very smart people here  !

What has been the earliest documented L78? There are tags in question  with August and oct  4k stamping. Also kinda same but also like to know if the approximate date of the Norwood switch from the 4P to the 4K and so on for other than the L48 and L30/M20 ?

If an August or October tag has a 4K code, it’s a reproduction.

Some good reading here.

Bryon
Have read that and thinking the same. But that hasn’t answered my questions. Is this a solid know fact or just info on record to date?

I don’t have the exact date but I think first L78 was maybe late April.

Here is some good reading...
