68 Z alt bracket gt stamp

i think i finally found an original, looking for opinions, im assuming original due to the aged pitting in the gt ?

You could click on your Tx-Z 302 to go to your profile and then hit the icon to show your post or complete a search to find. I remembered it so just went to the 2nd page of Originality threads and there it was. No problem as I know I sure learned a lot and am still learning how to do something.

That looks like an original GM bracket but not for a '67-'68 Z. I think it was used on some later 409 engines and possibly something else like a '65 396. Both have the GT stamps but the 409 one is thicker above the adjusting slot and the Z bracket is thinner up there and more equal to the thickness below the slot.

I agree with Jon, it’s original but not for a 68 Z

Agree, agree! I quickly looked at the stamp earlier and said yep that's it but after looking back now with Jon's comment that bracket is not for our 68Z. Me bad & sorry I mislead you!

1. Is the thickness the bracket thickness or thickness from top edge of bracket to the slide adjusment slot and thickness from botto. Edge of bracket to the slide adjustment slot?

2. There are pics on here of unmolested Z engine compartments and one has a fabulous pic of this bracket where it bolts to the WP and it appears to be a smooth radius on the end?  The one I had purchased has flat beveled edges.  All the aftermarkets seem to have the beveled ends?

3. A friend is also telling me that if you lay it on a tape measure there are differences in length , if this is true does anyone know what the length of the correct bracket is? And also a general thickness of the bracket?

I no longer have an original front bracket, just the rear. The part above the slot is too fat (tall?) on your part.
