I no longer post stuff on the Camaro Pace Car site because I worked for five years researching and documenting every single Camaro pace car from 1966 to 2017 in hundreds of threads with a multitude of rare pictures and most of that work has been completely wiped off the site. The threads that still remain have been altered by the powers that be. Someday I hope to put all the information I have found out about all first generation Camaros that were official cars or used to actually pace Can-Am, Trans-Am, NASCAR, USAC Champ Car, F-5000, ARCA, etc., etc. on this particular web site because the threads seem to be kept for documentary purposes. I can pull up threads from years ago and that means the information from the hours and hours of research doesn't get lost.
Anyway, I did have a thread going on this particular Camaro. It was not only used to pace the Can-Am race at St. Jovite seen above, but it also was the pace car for the Les Trois Heures du Circuit SCCA Trans-Am event held at the track on August 3, 1969 and the SCCA F5000/Continental race held there on September 7, 1969.
The first picture shows the Camaro on the pace lap prior to the Labatt's 50 Can-Am race. It came from page 82 of the book authored by Pete Lyons entitled, "Can-Am." It is credited to Claire Lyons McHenry.
The second, third, and fourth pictures came from The Dave Friedman Collection at The Henry Ford. They show the Camaro parked in front of the Can-Am grid prior to the start of the race. You used to be able to see larger and clearer versions of these images from this collection on the web but the pictures from this particular race were not posted on their new Flickr site, so no link is available for them.
