1968 special paint

I'd post s few pics to better show the condition of the original top, but I'm having problems figuring out posting photos here. I think I'm doing what I need to, but perhaps because I only have 5 posts here so far, I might not be allowed to post pictures yet.

Yes, that black vinyl is shining in the sun,...lol. Not dry or brittle. I'll have to check to see is I have any other closer shots.

No, that's Lemans Blue,....factory color.

I'd imagine that if you mix any color several times it would be a little different each time. For me, a good example is Chrysler's B5 blue. It was inconsistent between brands and years, but it was still called B5 blue.

Yep, have heard Mark Worman (Graveyard Carz) mention differences in B5 Blue. Was thinking I've read 68 and 69 Lemans Blue was different as well. A quick google search brought up this thread....http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=15328.0

Anyway, I've been looking at 2 different monitors (computers) and Frank's car (color) looks more vibrant on one compared to the other. I surely don't want to open a can of worms here...lol, it's a beautiful color anyway you look at it....Although the rally wheels is a bit too much! (imho)

Yes, there are so many variables concerning photos and colors. Lighting, natural vs artificial, high sunlight vs early morning or evening, cloud cover, florescent lighting, LED, incandescent, etc...to the quality of the camera, digital or old school film photography, exposures, pixels, etc,..etc,... I have had this car for over 40 years, with pictures taken in all kinds of lighting, with all types of cameras. The color looks different in many of them. All I can say is, the door jambs, and inside the truck have the original paint on them, and have never been painted, and the match the repaint on the outside perfectly. The sides are still lacquer paint from a repaint in 1982, the top surfaces are modern urethane painted in the late 90s when I changed hoods for the third time. Everything matches, all the same paint code, even though different types of paint, from different manufacturers,

It was only in the elements for 4 years, 68 through 72. Was a drag car until 81, only out to race during the summer a day or two a week if that, and always garaged the next 41 years by me. Never seen rain or snow. It's not brittle at all. I have always kept it treated with some sort of vinyl protectant.

That's awesome to be sporting the original top. At times I wished mine didn't have one but it makes it different form the others.

Yes, I like it. Especially with the black interior, they compliment each other well. Also, when I decided to give the sides the Rally Sport treatment to the rockers, removing the single mldg and installing the three piece ones, then paint the lower section black,.... along with the black top and chrome mldgs, it gave the sides that curvy Coke bottle look the first gen Camaros have been compared to.

You should add the belt line moldings as well, to give it the full coke bottle effect. That's one of my favorite things about the 68 and its unique among the first gens.

You should add the belt line moldings as well, to give it the full coke bottle effect. That's one of my favorite things about the 68 and its unique among the first gens.

I was just polishing a Set for my 68Z I am going to Add Z21 style trim to my Vinyl Top Car, (C2) even if it was not equipped new since I feel the same way about the appearance...
