Laugh of the day!
« on: November 28, 2017, 02:36:03 PM »
You'll love THIS ONE!!

Quote
Amazing, rare barn find.. this is a genuine Carol Shelby GT 500 Chevy Camaro set of two wheels!! Probably one of the rarest wheels Shelby has ever made. Most people have never heard of a Chevy camaro Shelby GT 500, they did produce a small number of these factory race cars! These are price very cheap.. if you know anyone with a Shelby Camaro, let them know about these beauties! One has hub cap, both in mint condition! You may never see another set of these ultra rare wheels.. 14x9" Shelby GT 500 camaro 302 wheels!! Call or text Eric@ number hidden for privacy

You gotta hand it to him. It's always best to make up a good story when you want to sell something. In this case it's two beat up mags marketed by Shelby, and are basically the same as the U.S. Indy slot mag wheels that are worth maybe $100 at best! But here's the part I like the best:

That's because there's no such thing!

That boy needs some 'edjumication'...  :)  but I wonder if it would take??

The wheels also look to have the larger 5" bolt circle... like for a truck!  :)

PS.  Speaking of 'US Indy' mag wheels, I have a pair of US Indy 14x6 (Chevy pattern)- I bought them in 1971 and never mounted or used.  They were still in the original boxes until a couple of years ago when they got wet and I chunked the boxes, and I have no idea what to do with them; does anyone still use this stuff?  :)

Heck yeah, I ran a set of them on the Nomad for decades (14x7's) and still have them.  Thinking about putting them back on when I get it back on the street since it's always been a "day 2" car anyway and I don't think that theme is going to change.  My dad ran them on his 69 GTO from 1970 until about 1977-ish when they were then swapped on the Nomad and ran until I stopped driving it in the early 1990's.

No no Pete. I got one hidden behind the barn. Just so no one pesters me to sell it. It’s yours! It needs the total resto, but a cool million should pry it from my hands. I was keeping it to restore. You know, some day. It don’t need much, bring a dust pan and broom.

Mentioned to him that I don't think those cars existed. I think they did something in the 90's. But anyway... His reply.. Danny

Check your fact bro. Shelby absolutely made a very few 302 Shelby race ready Chevy camaro cars.. not too many people know that...

If Shelby did have some dealings with Camaro then I think it would have some mention in this detailed write-up, but it doesn't.

The sad thing is....someone may buy them thinking they got (doing my best Brooklyn Jewish accent) "such a deal".

Reading a book about that bridge. Washington Roebling (the chief engineer of the bridge) was one of those truly gifted people, definition of a civil engineer. A hero of the battle of Gettysberg as well. Little did I know.

...and of course the Roebling bridge in our town, Jimmy, connecting Cincy to Ky. Over the Ohio river. Not to hijack, but my grandpa was a Civil Engineer And a true gifted genius. He designed many well known bridges and highways. His best known achievement is that he designed several crucial items, like the launch pad legs, for the Apollo moon launch.
