New to this site!
« on: November 08, 2017, 02:57:05 AM »
Hello everyone! I recently bought a 69 Z28. I am trying to find info on where it was sold and to whom. Is there any web sites that will help me? My VIN is 124379N624188. Since I am having the car shipped from the seller I have not gotten to dig into all the codes in depth. It has certificate from Jerry MacNeish stating it is a true 69 RPO Z28.

Hey, Welcome to the CRG!
I would encourage you to start a new thread and introduce yourself, and the car and throw up a pic (or 10... ;D )

If you want, repost the link to the for sale ad, good pics and info, and then tell us what your plans for the car are.

I really like the excitement of new members and their purchases.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the compliments on my Z. I bought this car for myself as an early retirement present. No plans for it other than enjoy it. Maybe Sunday cruises with the wife and grandkids! I really don`t know how to post pics on here yet but you can go to https://www.motorcarclassics.com/1969-cheverolet-camaro-z28-c-116.htm and look at the whole gallery. I just received the report that Jerry MacNeish done on it and hopefully I can figure out how to get it attached and post it at later date. Again thanks to everyone and look forward to many conversations in the future. Love the site!

You can request from NCRS (for a $50 charge) to get the zone/dealer number for the original dealer, and hopefully the dealers name as well...

If the data for your serial number is not available you will not be charged.

I am guessing it is an early car since the head rests look like the early style?

From the OP's link, VIN is 124379N624188 so not an early car, and also not in the range of VINs missing from NCRS shipper data.

Very nice looking car, congrats on your purchase. With thoughts of retirement approaching soon, I bought my Camaro just as you did. That's a beautiful car, I don't think you will regret it one bit. I know I didn't, enjoy, have fun and drive it!

OK, so when did they stop using the early style head rests?

Best data suggests mid-December 1968. May have been phased-in.

More here: http://www.camaros.org/headrest.shtml#1969 and read footnote 3

Thank you for the link.  ;)

So this car would still be pretty late to have a straight bar, even with the white, it would seem, right?

From that 'footnote 3' mentioned above:
Quote
......there was an overlap period where the straight bar headrest continued to be used until supplies were exhausted. This is particularly prevalent on the less popular interior colors. In these cases, original cars have been observed with straight headrests as late as mid December, 1968.
Best way to check would be if the OP could pull the headrests and check the date stamped on the shaft.
But such a minor detail, car is stunning - congratulations!
