Those photos were resized to a point TOO SMALL to see any detail.  Are you using Light Image Resizer?  if so just choose 50% reduction to start (retaining image size and x/y scale..  if that results in larger than 200 kb, then resize again with 40% etc.

Chris, it's looking good, but before we can confirm, we need a LOT more information.

1. What's the VIN?
2. Post a higher resolution picture of the trim tag
3. The axle appears to be stamped 0614 (June 14th), but what's the casting date on the center section (the "pumpkin")? BW was used in 1968 AND 1969, so the date would confirm if it's original to that car.
4. The Muncie Speedometer hole, rear bumper guards, 4 leaf leaf springs,  2 piece disk brake rotors, correct booster with wt cylinder, etc... were NOT limited to just the Z28, so none of this is conclusive.
5. Not all leaf springs will have the GMU casting. This casting was done every 10 to 15 feet, so it just depends on where the spring happened to be cut. There are a lot of cars out there with original springs that DON'T have the GMU casting, so again, inconclusive.
6. The paint sounds promising so can you show some better pictures of that?
7. You stated that you have no documentation, so how do you know the car came from Bill Conner Chevrolet? Not sure if they're still in business, but if they are, (Zone 25, Dealer 95), it would be worth a few phone calls.

I have tons of pictures, the resizing is a process! The 4 at a time is a process. I sent vin to some corvette club that I found on here, and pAID 40-50. Bucks for a sheet of paper that told dealer info build date etc etc. It does not state z28 on that paperwork. I did send pics to mcneish prior to the purchase For an opinion . he believes it is real but without actually seeing everything could not say for sure, but thought the price given was a good gamble. He told me it had to be a Z or an SS based on the picture evidence. As far as what my plans are? Well I
Have replaced all the sheet metal that was rusted out which was extensive. I have it in primer as of now. If it was a drag car like the owner stated I might be inclined to build it back that way yet street legal. I would love to make it all original but there are key pieces missing that are impossible to find, when you do you can't afford them. So I'm not rushing just trying to get opinions on z or not z, opinions on best way to restore it etc etc.  I actually been thinking about selling all the z components and just fixing it like I want it vs some form of real restoration? From whAt I can see I probably have 10,000 dollars worth of used z parts piled up lol. To answer the other question it's british green, I couldn't be lucky and get red, blue or black or even white , had to be green

Hey Chris while I am not a huge Green fan in general, the British Racing Green is actually a good looking color on a 68 Z, or SS.

How to restore it: Well it sounds like you have a majority of Z parts, so why not restore it as a Z. There are a ton (A TON) of fake Z cars out there, I think if you have enough date correct parts, and if anyone can help you verify it possibly, than a British Racing Green 68 Z would be a nice piece to own, or even a nice car to barter or sell for what you really want.
I am guessing you would be looking for date correct block, but they are out there.

In the end it is your car, build what you will enjoy. (just keep posting pics for us as you go... ;) )

British Racing Green has been one of my favorite car colors since I was a kid... Probably MORE marques have BRG as one of their colors than ANY other color...  and how many other colors can make the claim that the *color* is so fast, that it had to have RACING in it's name.. :)

BRG with saddle interior is classic and FAB...  :)

I think on a brit car it seems to fit better, with tan interior. American cars I could go with a couple others.

Im personally fond of BRG with a black interior, but I may be prejudiced -

One of the neatest paint combos I have ever witnessed on a '68 in BRG is the black stripe car that was around here, went to Atlanta and then elsewhere. Really subtle deal with the black stripes on British Green - very nice.

Steve

Day 2 cars are very popular and with the parts missing that might be a good route to go but no matter what you do, do what you want and have fun. Those springs look pretty pitted to have looking good but if you do go with the good repro's be aware that the car will sit high until they settle. To assist with the process add weight to the trunk like a couple 5 gallon buckets of wet sand. :)

Is the tire pressure sticker on the glove box? Should say 15 tires for a Z. I agree with making it as close as your wallet allows to being a Z if more evidence shows.

Yes, the sticker is there but not in good condition, you can make out the tire size of 15 the car came with 15 on front and 15 on back. The rears are marked ag with junk slicks, the fronts are df. Plus two more df wheels.

The more you post the more it sounds like a car that should be preserved. I've owned my 68 z/28 for 41 years & it's never had it original engine or trans. I'm still hopeful to find it some day. I've seen several BRG w/white stripes. Very nice looking especially if it has sports style trim. My decal is like yours...ratty but I don't dare replace it. I used to have the EE front springs. Wish I still did. My car also has factory 4.56 gears. What a blast to drive...Joe

I sure would like to trace back to original owner, but seems impossible. I figure I could find out if it was a real Z through talking with the family, maybe even get a picture or two and who know he might have paperwork? The dealer is shut down years ago and the privacy laws seem to be strictly enforced at the dmv.
