How do I find a list of previous owners of my 69 Pace Car?

Hey Guys!

This is my first post! hope you guys will be gentle! I have a 69 pace car I've owned since 1989. I have a lot of Indy Race memorabilia from 69 including an actual pace car Bell Helmet to match the car..more on that later.

my question> my original car dealer sticker is still in the glove box, Jack Matson Chevrolet Pontiac Oldsmobile in Hillsboro Ohio. still has the phone #393 1981  I know who I bought it from in Boca in 1989 but can't go back further. Im certain i have an actual pace car based on the vin tags etc, plus I've owned it for 28 years and only drive it 200 miles a year maybe..

any way to trace back to the previous owners? years ago i called the dealership and they've been sold over and over and say they have

Cool. I live about 20 miles from Hillsboro, Ohio. Welcome aboard. Guessing you are in Fla? By the Boca reference. If you have owned this since 89 that would be 20 years of owner history needed. Seeing the car was in another state when purchased, this could be difficult and it could be easy. It depends how many owners it went through and how far it has been separated from its original surroundings. Knowing where it originated is a huge plus. I would start with an ad on Craigslist under cars for sale, car parts for sale and general topic posting, yes, all 3,maybe some other section with a picture of a pace car and inquiring if anyone remembers one sold new in Hillsboro. This is a small rural agricultural town, so someone may remember. If I can be of assistance as a detective, PM me. The wife works at the hospital in Hillsboro (Highland county) The dealer is now Jerry Haig Chev. I would also use Facebook

Thanks for the reply. Years ago I owned a 64 Corvette (1988) and I was able to write Tallahassee and they sent me a full list of previous title owners. Don't think they offer this today. Yes Im in Plantation FL which is west Ft Lauderdale.  I assume your suggestion for a craigslist ad would be one placed in the hometown of Jerry Haig Chev?  I will also try calling the dealership again. Perhaps they have microfilm records of original bills of sale.

Probably the best Camaro Indy Pace Car web site for everything about the various years of pace cars as well as registry is CAMAROPACECARS.COM. They should be able to assist you with multiple items related to your '69 Pace car.

Yes, post in the Cincinnati Craigslist and the Chillicothe, as well. Pace car registry? Why yes. It is run by a member here, Steve (that is all I can remember) then, there is www.pacecarjeff.com  He is right there in Ft. Lauderdale, D. Crispino has a registry.

Your very close to me, I'm in Ft lauderdale (Pompano Beach) and still have a place in Plantation (west) that I rent.  I dropped a call to my Uncle (awaiting return) who has lived in Hillsboro, Ohio for the last 45-50 yrs and my father who's also from that area (Winchester).  As Bentley stated...many small rural agricultural towns,  you never know.
