I can't take a look at this for details right now, car is tucked away for the winter. 

Also can't guarantee it is original.  Could be it was added based on the AIM drawing.

I will try to check closer in a month or so.
I have been curious for some time wondering just how many "original" accessories & RPOs on our cars were, in fact, dealer/owner installed? It would not be an easy install if a car already had a radio and front antenna, but I am sure a few dealers figured a way to install some of the stuff cheaper than the factory like not ordering a radio and adding at the dealer.

Dealers did this a lot. It was more profitable for them to buy and install the radio on their own than to have the factory install one. Things like Radios, A/C, mud flaps, undercoating, etc... these were all high profit items for the dealer.

Here's a typical Motorola AM radio that would have been dealer installed.

And if the dealer did this, the car should have the solid grommet in the door jamb.

Many of the manufacturers at the time had an option which included 'speakers' and power wiring (and maybe antenna?) but without the radio, since it was faddish at the time to buy a new car and install an aftermarket 8-track or stereo...  Not sure if Chevy did in 1969?

Not as much as the prior years. The zone offices finally started catching on to what dealers were doing and put the kibosh on it!

This is as mine. The AIM is not how the factory did it. The hole would be in the corner brace if done according to the illustration.

My silver unrestored 69 Z28 was ordered without a radio and the dealer installed the Motorola. Looks almost identical from the knobs to the rear brace.

Green car photos.  Measurement from the trunk seal is 6.5" roughly, from the edge of the outer side of the quarter is 1 5/8" roughly and 2" roughly from the trunk side edge.

 Darrell's are what my measurements look like. For the almost 6 1/2" it is from the hole C/L to the edge of the rubber channel closest to the font of the car. Just for the heck of it I measured the hole location and it is approximate to the posted P.V. measurements in the '67 AIM.

Another question is, did the quarter panels come from the suppliers with the rear holes already punched and then the factory closed the hole if it did'nt get the rear option?  My friend's D80 car did not get the rear antenna option of course, but running my finger under the bottom of the quarter inside the trunk, I can feel where the punched hole was.

FWIW.....Here are a couple of rear antenna pics I took today at the BJ auction to show the location.

First two pics are from a '68Z out of the Reggie Jackson collection. Next two are from a '67 that was the 13th Camaro built.

Actually Darrell, if you look at the AIM (see attached), that's the only car in this thread with the antenna in the semi-correct location!!! The fore/aft hole should be approx even with the trunk gutter lip and it appears that all the other cars have it placed too far rearward.

Yeah, the pics (drawings) in the AIM are deceiving, but I bet if you had a way of measuring from the firewall, it would be 114.25 " back to the antenna.  :) Section 11-13 shows the reference points where measurements are taken.

  There are two ways to measure from the firewall (Zero starting point for the PV).
1- No windshield - Use a piece of thin wood (a yard stick is good) held flat against the firewall and with someone holding the end of the ruler, pull it across the dash to the stated PV area to get the back depth. Then perpendicular that to get the location on the quarter.
2- With a windshield installed - use a wood or plastic yard stick placed flat against the firewall and stick out the side (about 45 degrees) of the hood hinge area and measure from that point to the PV target area.
   The short PV from the center of the car is basically 1/2 the distance between the two quarter gully centers.
That's how I verified my mounts location recently.  Back in the day I just used the measurement from the back of the quarter edge of the original that was removed.
