1969 Camaro Z/28 Cross Ram Carburetors
« on: October 29, 2016, 10:01:04 PM »
Hello,

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I'm new here and just trying to gather information from you Camaro experts!

So recently I was helping my dad go through and clean out some shelves in the garage. We came across a pair of Holley carburetors that he had completely forgot about. He told me that he got them from a hot rodder friend of his over 25 years ago. He said that his friend told him they were original Holley carburetors for a Z/28 302 cross ram setup. After doing a little research, they look to be legit, well at least from what I could find. I know OEM cross ram set ups were pretty rare back in the day, even more so now. Can anyone tell me if my dad has anything of value? Or does he just have a couple of cool relics from back in the day? I’ve added some pictures I took when we found them. Any info is appreciated!

Cross ram setups were never on any Camaros from the factory but were available through the service department over the counter.

Not sure what they are worth. But they have some value.

Welcome to CRG! Nice units. Holley undated reissues are $750-950 each, depending on the vendor and shipping. HBC has a dated matched NOS pair for $4,995 - but asking price does not equate to actual value. Cost of a proper basic rebuild would be around $150-175 labour, plus extra for parts, for each carb. Restoration including recoloring would be more, maybe double, but you'd do better offering them for sale as-is, let the buyer decide on survivor vs restored.

Thank you all for your reply's and information. I know the carbs definitely need a rebuild, so I'm not expecting crazy money. But does the fact that these are original, matching, dated Holley's carry any weight? Maybe in the asking price of functioning reissues? I know this is pretty much a case of how much someone is willing to pay vs how much they're willing to let them go for, but any guidance is appreciated.

They are a great set of date matched 4295 cores and quite valuable to anyone building a 69 Crossram car with a dated intake and carbs. I just bought a matched set of originals for my 68 car and paid a couple grand for them from a good friend of mine. A set of 69 carbs recently sold on another site within hours of them being listed and I think they were priced at similar money. As cores they are worth $1500 to $2000 for the pair and restored they are more like $3500 to 4K all in and done with full restoration.

Very desirable parts to those who like performance builds with correct GM issued parts. Hope that helps.

Really nice pair of originals. Newer 4295 repros sometimes don't take into account the undrilled air horns (4295's did not have choke assemblies). The throttle blades are correct, too: 20-3 progressive plates. The only thing I can see that should be different is the aluminum gas line inlet - originals were steel, for 5/16" lines.

Real shame I couldn't find where I stuck mine on the shelf -

Regards,
Steve
