NADA value 1967 Camaro
« on: October 16, 2016, 10:36:27 AM »
Is there a better way to determine value then NADA?  I'm looking at a 1967 SS Camaro.  Have decoded the body by fisher plate, VIN, engine casting # and engine stamp, transmission and rear end.  It's a true SS car, original engine, transmission and rear end in excellent overall condition.

L-48 350, 2 spd. Powerglide, RPO D55 center console/floor shift and 10 bolt rear end, power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes.  Authenticity of car checks out but concerned about the fact it's an automatic and 10 bolt rear end car when it comes time to sell... Also a factory blue on blue car.   Needs a few things like original radio and some TLC in the engine compartment but a solid rust free survivor.

Appreciate anyone's thoughts on investment quality of such a car purchased well below NADA average retail value.  Hard to find an all original drivetrain but it's not a 4spd., 12 bolt factory car. It's also a car that was purchased and imported to Japan many years ago.  So I would eventually be shipping it back to the USA.

Would like to go with a M21 complete conversion kit and Moser 12 bolt 3.55 posi rear end.  Keeping original tranny and rear end when it comes time to sell.

Appreciate anyone's thoughts based on your experience.

As discussed in the other thread, it shouldn't have a 10-bolt rear.
http://www.camaros.org/suspen.shtml#12-Bolt "12-bolt axles were installed on all SS350's (with the exception of 1969 SS350's with Powerglide transmissions)"

If you really want a 4-speed and this car is that original, I'd buy a 4-speed car. fwiw

IMHO a huge mistake and agree 100% with Kurt. But something you wrote begs a question, is the car in Japan currently? You wrote it would need eventually shipped back to the USA so assuming both the Camaro and you are you located in Japan, correct?

Some pics would help a lot , if you would like to know a value.

A few exterior pics , and interior shot and engine shot.

Good luck

Appreciate the tech info regarding the rear end.  Have decided to look for another Camaro.
