Hi Guys! Have a problem with my "tach" on my 69 Camaro big block. Doesen't go past 800 RPM. Anyone have any ideas on to what might have caused this guage to go south on me. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks for listening..........Don

It's probably something internal. If it were me, I'd open it up and carefully R&R it like it was an antique clock. Chances are there's some dust caked on a gear or two with some old oil.

If it's like my Z28 tach, it's electronic, with a VERY simple tiny little integrated circuit to drive it.. and a D'arsonval type of needle movement. Most gauge restorers will tell you that they are 'not repairable'... but maybe you can find one who will??

Or thankfully I guess... There has to be a gear or something of the sort that can get gummed up though right? Here's a good site that has some info about the old tachs.http://www.instrumentsrus.com/gm.htm
