Corvette Bronze Color Production 1968:
« on: July 10, 2016, 12:19:39 AM »
A question was asked about how many 1968 Corvette Bronze Camaros were produced.

There were 13,488 1968 Camaros produced in "OO" Corvette Bronze

Awesome info Paul, I may have been the one who asked on a previous thread. Second question, was it available option all year long for the 68 production run?

I think as Kurt replied on previous thread, it as not offered the beginning of the production year. My data does not say when it along with: JJ Rallye Green, UU Lemans Blue, ZZ British Green were introduced, however these colors are listed separately on the bottom of the page with an asterisk. notating; additions to colors above.

gotcha. I thought you may be privy to different info that might show the window of "limited" production for this color. 13,488 is a lot of cars, but maybe the color was only around for a short while. Had it been around longer who knows how many more would have opted for that shade. To bad they didn't have it in 69, or 67 for that matter.

Is that the earliest known car with it? I thought a guy posted a pic of a firewall tag, about a year ago, dec or jan car with the code. So that may be what I am thinking as well Darrell.

I think I remember The thread but can't remember the info.  But that would have been possible for some one in the know or at the plant level as it would take a week or 2 for dealers to get the info for consumers.  But for the normal situation it was Jan of 68.  Someone please correct me if my thinking is incorrect.

12E Ran through Jan 3/4th, did you ever send away to Chevy Muscle Docs to obtain the exact build date?

I didn't seek the NCRS shipper report; don't own the car, just checked it out on behalf of a potential buyer.

LL teal blue was another late color. I've always heard them referred as " spring colors." brought out to boast sales in the spring. I have a Ferd truck with a spring color, grabber blue only available in 1970 and for a short while.

Teal Blue was not among the separately listed colors than I mentioned about. Just the 4 of them, only Blue was UU Lemans Blue.

I believe my parents 68 RS was Teal Blue. Here's some other examples....http://www.69pace.com/paint1968tealblue.htm

Well, 13,488 Corvette Bronze cars out of 235,147 68's total, comes out to 5.74%....just a bit more rare than the CRG estimate of 7%. Not bad. :)

Thanks

Since we are on color production numbers...  How many Rallye Green 68's were built?
