What Are Your Opinions and HELP
« on: July 06, 2016, 09:17:18 PM »
I wanted to run this car by you guys and get your opinions as I know most of you are much more experienced than I.  What do you think? A real SS?  How about the trim tag?  One thing I noticed is that it has RS taillights, with no back-up (white) lights, on a non-RS car.  Is this even legal per Calif. vehicle code?  I like the color combo and am hoping that it is a real SS.
My HELP needed is that I don't know how to put the link to this car in my post.  It is advertised in Hemmings under number 1848363.  It is a 1967 SS Royal Plum with white located in Thousand Oaks, CA.  Thanks for your help.

Royal Plum looks nothing like Mopar Plum Crazy. Tag states 4P, 3L is RS. Headliner and sailpanels are white which is wrong. Pet peeve is a hardline for firewall blackout. Bumble Bee and SS badge layout not right. Numerous things wrong. Is this thing rock solid with bodywork done correctly?

Well from the standpoint that Chevrolet was more conservative with the colors back than (other than EO maybe), it struck me as more of a Mopar type offering. In the picture it appears darker or a deeper purple (plum) color. Sorry to offend ;)

Tag looks reasonable and says it's an SS.

Chrysler did not come out with their 'wild' colors until the 1970 model year, I think to emphasize their 'scat pack' collection of muscle cars.  I bought two of them that year:   a 1970 RR hardtop in 'limelight' (or was it 'lemon lime?).. and a '1970 Challenger RT/SE in 'plum crazy'.. (or was it statutory grape??).. :)   :)

The '67 GM 'royal plum' color was very similar to other colors that GM had going all the way back to '55 (dusk rose), '56 (dusk plum), and '57 (dusk pearl)... all of which were tinted towards the pink / purple parts of the spectrum.

I have a 67 chevelle, Marina Blue. It came with the left over paint for touch up. The can says it is a mopar color but at cruise in it matches other Marina Blue cars exactly.

I think that in the sixties, 'Marina Blue' was so popular, probably every manufacturer had to duplicate it... I suspect it will always be a popular color, regardless of what name they assign to it..

PS.  In case it didn't come thru with my post re the Mopar crazy colors, My opinion on the Chevrolet  Royal Plum is that it is a MUCH more classy color than the Mopar Plum Crazy (which sorta slaps you in the face)...  Royal Plum is one of those colors that also will always looks good and current.
