The fella I got it from said it only had about 500 miles on it after being rebuilt by a local shop, and that it 'ran great' when pulled from a car before it was sold. I was sorta enthused (if I can be enthused over a 'fat motor'
) but since I didn't know the codes for these motors, I had to check. When I found out it was from a '68 truck, and was originally NOT a high performance block (although the block is stamped 'Hi Perf' on the side?? - what's with that?).. I sorta lost the interest I'd built up. I was told that when it was rebuilt it had a hydraulic version of an 'L88' spec cam installed... probably meaning hi-lift??
Of course, I'm all about 'factory numbers', so a modified engine doesn't have much interest to me at this time (but it would have when I was in my 20's...
)
