Is it any wonder that it's expensive these days to restore (correctly) a '69 Camaro???

Heck I saw a set of wiper arms that the guy had 69 Z28 on the tape identifying them at the swap meet..  Added another 30% to the price apparently..     Anymore it is cheaper to buy a finished car than to restore a car..  This is the main reason I have stopped selling as much and am in more of the hoarding stage..  As one "ole dog" said to me over the weekend..  This stuff just isnt around anymore..


You can thank the rich baby boomers that want to recapture their youth creating more demand than supply.  Same thing is happening right now with the late 70's T/As..  BJ, Mecam and others havent helped the common man either..

7029215 Quadrabogs and similar carbs have been $1,200 - $1,500 for quite a while now. It's definitely crazy on some of this stuff. You're right though, $135 is just out of control for that strap.

I'm currently watching an auction for a CV-746C PCV valve.....one of the earlier ones made around 1968.  BIN only $995.00.  I had a chance to get one for appx. $200.00 a couple of years ago but missed the auction by 30 seconds.  Bummer

You wont find a machined pcv valve at the parts store, they were assembly line installed to around late 1970, I have seen them regularily go for $300-$500.

Seriously the restoration deal has got out of hand, especially with internal engine components that can not be seen.

There is a vendor on eBay that sells bolts and nuts and it is always box is not included and he also lists as 'Extremely hard to find'. And yet, the vast majority are available at AMK for a fraction of the cost.

MORE FRAUD..   they SHOW the gm box for ONE purpose..  to mislead the prospective buyer into thinking the part is an original or NOS part.. whereas they KNOW it isn't.   We seem to be encouraging more and more people into being LYING FRAUDs by our 'accepting' their lies...  (I Just sent a question/comment to a seller on ebay who is advertising his '56 Sedan Delivery as a 'Nomad delivery'...  car has nothing to do with a Nomad; two separate cars, but he might FOOL/DeFraud a person who knows that Nomad are bring a big price, but doesn't really know the difference...     Who was it who said:  "There's a fool born every minute... and two more born to 'take him'"...

I sometimes think that might have more to do with people just not knowing what they have or what the technical name is, even the owners.  When I was driving my nomad daily it was called a station wagon more times than I can count.  So much so I really didn't care anymore and just let it be.  I think when GM came out with a wagon they also called a nomad in the 60's it didn't help matters either.  We are a dying breed Gary.  Few of us left that can tell things apart like we do, and younger generation for the most part doesn't care.  Eventually the high prices these cars and their parts bring won't last forever as the older generations die off and todays kids show less and less interest.

You know I'm with you on that Gary.  When you start blowing that kind of money on mundane parts like that, then suddenly when finished you have a 6 figure car you're afraid to drive, and I'm sick of just staring at them.
