69 bbc oil pan recomendations

Hello, I am looking for a stock appearing oil pan for my x22. The new engine is going to be an all new build using a GMPP ZL1 block (since it is NOM anyway). I am still in the planning  and parts gathering  mode. Still not sure of the cubic inch we are going to do with it so I may have to go with a stroker clearance pan. I do want a stock (ish) appearance of an original ZL1 (black pan, timing cover, stock looking valve covers and functioning cowl air cleaner setup). It will not be a true to stock look but a half breed or an almost day 2 with headers and small upgrades. Anybody have a good pan that they have used that kind of looks the part and does not have any issues with cheapness or leaks? Any help would be much appreciated!  Also If you have any experience with one of these blocks, that info would be great!

Take a look.

They carry a SBC crate motor pan I plan on getting getting. Stock appearing, good oil control. Obviously not 100% correct in appearance.

Try doing a search on Team Camaro also.

I picked this one up for my spare motor. The only difference I can really find is a hole that's in the gasket lip under the water pump. It doesnt affect anything. I dont know what its for. Good quality and thick gauge steel.

That does look decent,IMO. That "hole" in the lip is for some gaskets (early, pre 68 I believe) had small 'tits' that when 'popped' into place help keep the rubber seal from pushing out of place.

That's what I was figuring about that hole, but I didn't remember any BBC motors with that.

Thank you. Those look like good options. Anybody have any experience with the repop pans? Are those just re boxed Dormans? It just that everytime I get something from a dealer, I could have bought it from a reg place or summit cheaper. Just happened with a heater core.

I purchased a Summit pan for my big block el camino. I've had no problems with leaks. Don't know if it looks original. But it gets the job done.

How far have you come so far in collecting parts?

So far I have the block, oil pressure valve, valve covers, timing cover, flywheel, and 163 intake which I may or may not use depending on head selection. The things I have to determine are
cubic inch displacement (crank stroke)
bore: Would love to keep a 4.250 bore
Deck height: dependent on piston manufacture/ possibly custom pistons for a 10/1 and head combo
Finding a shop that will listen to me and has some experience with doing one of these blocks and is fairly reasonable. (not looking for cheap but don't want to be gouged either)
How to save up to get it done!

Talk to 1971ls6 (Morgan). He's on Yenko.net and Camaros.net as well as CRG. He bought the same block you did to use in his COPO clone. His is all done and sounds great. He's not far from me here in MI.

Im from western MA. I have talked to Jeff Morgan. He is a great guy with a sweet car. One of the things he clued me in on was to use the bypass valve. he told me he had an oil pressure issue. That is why I got one so early in build. He also told me he had Diamond custom make pistons for his 074 heads. I think I will use the new GMPP Rovals made by Edelbrock. I wish the looked more stock though
