I have to point out to you fellas... 'The original spiral shocks' after 45 yrs will NOT do very much to dampen out suspension motions in your car!
I removed my originals in 1976 after I purchased the car and installed Gabriel Strider (adjustables) which worked much better. I've cleaned and painted those an original appearing 'gray' and will use them. If they don't do their job sufficiently, I've some new Konis in the box I will install! .. and since I'm a long time 'hoarder', I've probably still got the originals deep in a box somewhere in one of my garages..
. Bullitt keeps bugging me to find them and send them to him!!
Anytime I've ever purchased a 'used car' (especially back in those days), the first thing I'd so after an oil change and tuneup is *install new HD shocks*. Factory shocks during that period sometimes didn't even last thru the initial warranty period (which wasn't long)..
