Absolutely. If Delco had done a better job with turning the O.D. on originals, it would be a lot tougher to distinguish attempts like this (except for the differences in at least one of the stamped numbers). Hope no one falls for it.

you know.. some people advertise falsely without knowing it.. but in this case, the seller KNOWS the following is not true....
"HERE IS A VERY NICE USED 1969 Z/28 CAMARO DIST ORIGINAL  MONEY BACK GUARANTEE , 1111480  DATED  1969 JAN 21  For  302 29O HP.  4 SPEED TRANS "

Because HE modified and restamped that distributor.  WHY isn't he sent to jail?  It is fraud (regardless of the amount of $$ he charges for it)...

I just asked him this question:  "Do you recall how long ago it was that you machined off the original numbers from the body of that distributor and restamped it?  You DO KNOW that it is fraud to misrepresent items for financial gain??"

I received his response:

"took in on trade 4 years ago do you need one or are you wasting my time "

Well, I'm certainly not going to buy it... that's probably his stock response anytime anyone questions his claims... pretends he didn't know any better?   I wish I knew how to turn him in to ebay authorities...  :(

Gary that is forever the problem, proving the intent to deceive deliberately. There will always be an excuse about how the seller came into ownership of the item, 'bought it at a swap meet' seems to be the standard fallback position. Only way I could see someone being found guilty of fraud is if they were either found in possession of restamped items and the matching equipment necessary to perform it, or actually in the process of so doing.

If it is the angola guy he has already been convicted of fraud in the past, fake cross ram stuff. It wasn't that long ago he was peddling repro wood wheels as original. This guy is the reason so many are turned off by eBay or craigslist.

The only recourse is to post sellers like this on the forums and the message will get out.

Ebay used to include questions and answers as a part of the auction, but now they apparently do not do so..  which precludes us from warning others with our questions...   :(

They still do but its the seller that can keep the questions hidden.

Here is another one below, but this one, a 9C4, is described as re manufactured!  This seller is leaving the decision upon the buyer, knowing that it is not authentic.

As far as the one that Gary posted, I know is against Ebay's policy.  If several complaints were filed against this seller, telling ebay that this seller is committing fraud and the seller knows he is selling fakes, and that several camaro archive groups have analyzed his fake products, and wanted him banned.  I think ebay would ban him.  If he didn't have a place to sell his junk, maybe he and these other junk pushers would give up.

I think there is a place to complain to ebay on the sellers page.  Possibly located were you would PM the seller.  I'm about to search for how to do this task.

Bryan

I think this would do the trick.  I started looking on the sellers page, under policies at bottom of page, and found this reporting page.

It works!  Load him up!...and all the rest that are selling crap!

Policy overview
click hyperlink "report listings that offer counterfeit items or replicas"

Three select topics will pop up
1. listing practices
2. Fraudulent listing practices
3. you suspect this listing is fraudulent
click continue
put in item number

If ebay gets a bombardment of complaints with this tool, they will have to act!
