Hey--are these things really worth all that much? I have one that I was just going to use in a 302 hot rod build....is that not a good idea?
I don't think a 4-bolt block (prior to machining) is worth that much without some 'original stamping' value (which that one did not have). now.. IF the machining (boring, line honing, etc) had been done and done by a good machine shop you trust, then it's well worth $500.. as the machine work would cost close to that.
I have a 4-bolt main 350 block from early '70's that had been in my shop since early 80's which I disassembled late last year and had the local machine/speed shop check out (was thinking of a 383 for my EC).. no cracks or other problems; std bore which the machine shop told me would be good with an 0.020 overbore which I'd put on someone for $200.. OBO...
