found DF wheels

In cleaning up under my shed today, trying to get to a 1957 283 engine for a friend, I came across a lot of parts I had misplaced/lost track of/etc...   including 3 1968 DF wheels... At one time, I had 4 or 5 of these wheels, and the other two may be under the shed also... I've more to clean up yet.

I don't like to sell things, but I don't need these and don't plan to buy another '68 Z.  I'd rather make them available to CRG members.  If you can use a few March '68 DF wheels, PM or email me and propose to trade me something that I might use...for my '69 Z, '69 Corvette, 55-57 Nomad, 72 El Camino.. etc...  I'll check and see if I have more than 3...
PS.  I also found at least one XN wheel which I think is a 14x6 rallye.

I cleaned up the DF wheels today and took photos of the stamped codes...  I believe all these wheels are dated March 20, '68.. but would like other's opinions as some of the stamped letters/numbers are not clear...  at least until I beadblast the areas...

Well, I call it a shed...  actually it's a 12x48 ft long 'lean to' (concrete floor with a roof) that uses my old shop as one side.  I outgrew my 32x44 shop and built that to protect a couple of cars... and the remainder of the space I used to 'toss anything' I didn't need in the shop, but didn't want to be exposed to full weather... (it's pretty mild here in north Alabama).
I finally completed my new shop/garage behind my current home, so I've been trying to figure out how to 'arrange' my too many cars to have each of them where I can work on them best (and in the process) pull out some parts I know I will never use and try to put them into hands that need them...

Gary, I stopped glass beading wheels years ago due to getting those darn particles in the crevices that you cannot get out and they then the wheels look like crap. That date is a very common date found (must have made a bunch then) and can be used by a lot of 68Z owners due to so many being build that spring as I'm sure you guessed. Good wheels to have! I thought Danny needed a March wheel?

Hey guys.. I need one rally as my spare is missing actual steel half way around. Someone must have hit a curb and then cut it off with a saw. I am running a tube in it. I need a K18  5  3  8. I have one wheel that is dated 3/20. But it is exact patina as the others and according to Jerry M. it is original. And they just reached for a wheel and mounted it. So some day when I restore all 5 wheels I want them all to be nice and date matched.
 As far as cleaning, do not glass bead or sand blast as it makes pits in the entire wheel that cannot be covered with paint. You think it will fill in, BUT IT WON'T!! You just keep piling on the paint. I "Hot Tank" my wheels overnight and they are bare and ready to go. I wash them down. Spend hours cleaning the crevice space between the inner and outer wheel until it is perfectly clean. Then prime, paint and bake at a preheated 200 degrees. Danny

Danny,  I appreciate your and Chick's suggestion of the sand/bead/grit getting into the seam of the wheel and being difficult to remove, but I do take issue with your statement that 'bead blasting' and 'sand blasting' will 'make pits'.  I don't think it's possible to pit steel with glass bead!  and even with sand, you'd need extremely high pressure to pit good steel.   What sand blasting and bead blasting (at appropriate pressures) will do is remove rust and show pits if the metal is rusted to the pitting stage.  I've been using a TIP 38" beadblasting cabinet and glass bead for 30 yrs or so and have never seen it do anything but remove surface rust; I can tell if a rusted part has 'pits', and I generally stay away from such parts.  I also use a TIP pressure 99'er sand blasting system and running at pressures under 100 PSI there's no way you will pit good metal.
