Don't often get to comment on Kurts postings (like never) but he really meant those codes are spring codes, not shock codes.

Geesum. I even double checked before I posted that!
Fixed it, it's now shock codes. Spring codes aren't as straightforward since they depend on weight.

REALLY appreciate all the info and help on this, I will now go with PW/TN for the shock codes, already have OH on the rear springs, but EG on the front.  I see the YQ referenced twice for L35 RS/SS cars so I'm hoping I'm good with the EG as my car is just an SS - Less weight? Any input??

Also, does anyone have a pic of a original date coded shock they can post to show the way it was stamped so I can replicate it when my shocks come in and where can I get the correct size/font punches from???

I'm attempting a full nut & bolt resto hence the springs need to be sandblasted or replaced.The tags would never survive that besides they are not remotely close to pristine condition. They are the original tags with the part # on them but no way to salvage them.I checked Rick's,Classic and D&R prior to posting  none of them list a YQ tag. Paul

Are you asking about spring or shock code?  This post kinda got jumbled into both, think shocks were PS & UN for your app but I'm shootin' from hip on that.  As Kurt states above "Spring codes aren't as straightforward since they depend on weight"  If it's spring codes your after, search the site...Ed posted a sheet on how to figure that out somewhere.

Spring codes are really tough to tie down, we started looking at them about a year ago and it quickly became clear that you can'tuse the GM service part books because GM consolidated multiple springs into common part numbers.  What starts out as a couple of dozen front and rear spring part numbers quickly get consolidated down into maybe 4 or five front and rear part numbers over the period of a couple of years.

For the 1969 SS L48 M20 with the code PS front and UN rear. What are the part numbers?  Am I right if I say  3192477 for the front and 3192851 for the rear?
