I ran across a 70Z that had been restamped and after blowing up the picture you could see the original stamp also. definitely looks to have another stamp

Several years ago a '69 Trans-Am original engine was found to have a Camaro VIN stamp. There are other examples of duplicate stamps on block castings.
Careful about throwing this one under the bus.

Definitely has a double stamp. Could always be the same number (mistrike), but need a close up of the second stamp to be sure -

I confirmed on the engine pad. I didn't look at the VIN.

You've definitely have two stamps there. I'm having the reverse problem-no stamp. I keep reading about the 'inconsistencies' at the factory since a lot of what we consider important was of no concern back then. Hopefully its just that in both cases.

Do I see something stamped right of the DZ?
Can you post a larger pic of the pad and the partial VIN stamp area?
