column shift v8
« on: October 28, 2015, 08:01:37 PM »
i've searched and cant find anything on column shift,  no codes or if there was codes for the column shift,  or for tilt wheel..  Its a 3 speed,  P R N D 2 L    so i am assuming that's a turbo 350-400,  and it was attached to a V8 says the vin,    current motor isnt correct so that's no help.

I guess what im asking is,  was this a default option,   or a option option,  or we just ran of floor shifters and stuck that one in  ;)

im assuming if you got the standard interior you got the column shift,    if you got deluxe interior it had center console shift with the big piece of plastic...  however thats just a guess...

The transmission selector was column-mounted for all automatic transmissions unless D55 Center Console was ordered. Did not matter which interior was ordered, the console was always optional.

Also for 1968 the TH400 could be ordered with M11 Floor Shift Control-no console. Very few were built that way.

I've only seen one. It was at the 2002 Camaro show in KC. It was a 67 RS/SS L-35 with deluxe interior, bench seat; and column shift.

COLUMN shift? William said FLOOR shift. I wonder what color the column shift car is you saw? I used to know of a maroon 7 or 8 BB car with white deluxe with column shift. It has been a long time ago. It was the original owner I talked to. It was HER son that worked at Norwood plant and she ordered it 396 column shift TH400.

First, what year are we talking about.  Column shift automatic in general is not rare.

Did you look at the transmission to see if it is original and if it is a TH350 or TH400?  What is the rear axle and code?

I cant bring the picture up. If you go to the Camaro Club of KC website, www.camaroclubkc.com and go to activities, then scroll to the 2002 Midwest Camaro Fest; the car is at the top of the page, Best Of. Just remember it was a T-400 on the column, didn't check the rear axle.

21 of the 69 ZL1 Camaros were column-shifted TH400.

Mine is a 69.   So if all where column shit and center floor is option, I guess that's why I didn't find anything
