This pic was taken '80 of my '72. Of all the cars that I've had this one and my 396 SS/RS are my all time favorites.

Gotta say I like that hood on that body style! Wonder how it would look with factory Z stripes? Might have too much going on and look better without them. I have seen them with a single stripe which looks good though.

Thanks, I loved that fiberglass hood. My dad owned a body shop so I did all the prep work and he painted it. I considered Z stripes but decided against it due to the contours of the L88 hood vs. the width of the stripes.

Funny, I had a 73 full bumper Camaro in 1980. Maroon with black vinyl top and black interior,...front and rear spoilers like yours, but I put a 78 Z28 hood scoop on it.

A friend of mine had a red 70 RS with the L88 hood on it and I always thought it looked perfect on it.

Wondering how this thread took a turn into a 2nd gen Camaro photo thread?    but..  since it has, it gives me license to post photo of my '70 Z28 that I bought in the early 80's.. and sold it later in the 80s during one of the gas crunches!

It has always amazed me how stock cars and the Trans-Am cars too could race on banking that steep, like at Daytona.   This photo really shows that banking and how the forces must have been acting on the cars and drivers while on that steep banking.

When I toured Daytona Speedway a few years ago I went on a trip around the track in some type of tram thing. Guide stated that  a car has to maintain a speed of 70 mph to keep from sliding down the banking in the turns.

In 1966, Penske's Corvette won the GT class at the 24 hours of Daytona:

The Corvette's L88 engine was built by TRACO.

I doubt the guide's embellishment. That would mean a person would slide down if standing still. People walk that track all the time. A guy on Youtube did it in cowboy boots.
