One of the engines in my 68 Z28 when it was raced in the 70s.

^^ Interesting, Look at the Stripe Gap above and below the RS emblem.

It shouldn't be, but it is funky! Also not the way the pinstripe ends into the nose stripe.

Re: nose stripes, this photo was posted here in another thread on promotional and pace cars by SMKZ28 (thanks Scott !)  from an

in house GM magazine from 1966 that I have. This was the first appearance of '67s in public September 25th. '66 Can-Am race at

Mosport, Ontario, Canada. There were comments about the stripe on this car either in that thread or some where else, can't find it

 now.

That's John Surtees with the Camaro.

Here's another '67 RS/SS regarding the stripe, I don't think that photo is in '67, those tires weren't available then ?

I remember long ago, I spoke with one of the few Camaro experts (that wrote many books) of the day and he told me something that sticks with me......"these cars were made on an assembly line where depending on the day they were built, there are going to be variances - that's the way it is - not everything is going to be spot on".  The QA folks at the end of the line weren't going to reject a car due to a stripe that's off by a 1/4"......

He's right.

I'm in agreement with camaronut, having worked final inspection in a GM plant in Canada, I'd pull a car aside and point out a fault

to my supervisor who'd eyeball it and tell me ship it ! It was more about numbers out the door than quality ! I'd see cars in dealers

and auto shows with faults, that maybe the untrained eye wouldn't spot.

Dave and Ben Wenzel are the original owners of that 67 Z and still race it!

1970 Camaros, the one with the plane GM promo photo.

What about the nose on photo ? striping and turn/park lights are not production, GM show car ? Could be taken at Milford ?
