This reminds me of a "restored Fresco" story that gained some notoriety a few years back. A painting of Jesus became deteriorated and a woman in the church took it upon herself to "restore" the picture. The results:

Way back in my life, there was a very unusual '69 in the Cincy area. Wish I had a pic. Close your eyes and imagine. The guy widened the tops of the fenders and 1/4s by about 8 inches, I guess and this accentuated the "Coke Bottle" styling. Did a pretty good job. Had it on a stock car chassis. I remember the doors were like a foot wide. Don't forget the few station wagon Camaros, here, a few months back.
If I had that talent, I would use it toward something way cooler. The car (1st Gens) was one of those RARE models with impeccable styling and appeal from every angle...why ruin perfection?
