1967 SS396 MW Pad Stamp
« on: May 28, 2015, 03:45:33 AM »
Good evening -

Is MW the appropriate engine pad suffix for a 67 SS396 325hp 4spd? (Trim tag attached)

The Camaro.org site states this is for a 68 396 325hp while the Nastyz28 site states it is for both 67 & 68.

As well - I am a little suspicious of the stamping on this block? (VIN is N221341) Any comments would be awesome :)

Thank you!

Paul

My book shows both 67 camaro 396/ 325  H.D. 3 or 4 speed manual and 68 camaro 396/325 HP 3 or 4 speed manual. Check the cast date and cast number on the motor then you'll know what year.

With the vin stamp on it that should point towards it being a 68 I think. Only 67 Z's and the SS 350's received vin stamps in 1967. Somebody please correct me if that is wrong.......

It's all '67 SS engines.  :)

From CRG...

"On 1967 Camaros, generally only the Z28 and SS engines had the partial VIN's stamped. In 1967, this code consists of the sixth through the thirteen characters of the full VIN, e.g. 7N123456."

Thanks for the replies Paul, Vince & BSMIT59!

Based on the replies about this car, I will take this to the next level = transmission & rear axle stamps.

I'm with BSMIT59 - more data to take in - unbelievable wealth of knowledge :)

Have a nice weekend all!
