Cars are sold on a bill of sale and are not street legal. Yes, my good friend won the U.S. national and set a class record at the Same race. They also have a 4 speed transmission, g force. I was at the factory last Saturday and they are in full swing and getting ready to start the season, I hope he can get my zl-1 done for a June race.

Those cars must be a 'post production' process in a separate facility than normal Camaro production?   Do they get a 'body in white' minus drivetrain (and hood?) from Camaro production?

For the '14, I thought all of them were white. The '15 I have seen Silver.

Yes they leave production early before sound deadener and other safety items, and the rest is hand assembled, I believe since it is small production.

I was at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in WPB Thurs thru Sunday.  Sitting just 5 rows back.  Saturday being the big $$ day for several cars.  The COPO #001 sold for charity to benefit "THE ACHILLES FREEDOM TEAM OF WOUNDED VETERANS" for $300K.

On a side bar for those that were not there, as TV was cutting away and viewers were unable to hear cause of crowd noise.  Mr. John Staluppi, a West Palm Beach resident, classic car collector and Barrett-Jackson figure contributed an additional un-noticed $100K to the $300K purchase price.

Btw.. did anyone take notice of the 69 H.O. Z with a bad T.T. bring in $77K ? or the 69 RS Z X77 ?... Yes a VERY VERY rare X77 RS    I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own 2 eye     ... and both were early build D80 T.T.'s.  Soon to be featuring at a dealer near you.

Saturday I had the chance to meet Jerry and talk for approx 10-15 min. in reference to my Z and having it certified.  I believe Jerry only tells Barrett-Jackson what he see's or perceives it to be.  Thus in return Barrett-Jackson will disclose that info in which they did.   They stated (on both) they were restamps with reproduction T.T.'s.   That's what baffled me    that even after the info was disclosed the H.O (so called) Z still drew nearly $80 G's.  

The pic is the H.O. Trim Tag.  I wished I'd snapped a pic of the block stamp.  There was just so many people around it at the time making it hard to get to.  But a buddy did tell me that it was showing a VIN stamp on the pad as well.   I also believe if my memory serves me well,  that Barrett-Jackson did say it was a #'s matching just before stating that it was a restamp..lol   .  Their book caption does state "Numbers Matching" but that's all pre-printed way in advance.  So you can tell them anything before hand.

Correct me if I'm wrong if anyone taped it.

These days, the terms 'matching numbers'... does NOT address WHEN the numbers were applied to that car and it's parts, or HOW those numbers got applied...  it's shameful, but that's the way it is.   I don't pay much attention anymore to that term; the term most appropriate to me nowadays is 'factory installed parts'.. and 'factory original'.

Yeah Gary agree.. Numbers matching what ?.. maybe the block and the trans match one another but that's it...lol

Maybe nobody has sued them for enough money, or when they get a bidders card they sign a wavier.

I guess they get away with it, until they don't.

IF someone 'restamps' the parts, changes the tags, etc.. so that 'all the numbers match up' to what the factory *could have done*, then that is 'numbers matching'..  but that doesn't say that the stamped codes are the factory original codes for those parts.  THOSE are the words used by the restampers (numbers matching).. meaning that they MADE the 'numbers match'... known factory practices.

Are all the bidders this mis-informed, or is this the new "clone market" of the 2007-2009 era, when those cars (Hemi, SS, COPO, Yenko)  were getting bid way over value?

Darrell was there any legit Z that went up for bid and you could see a significant jump in price for the real deal?

Actually there was !  Only 1.. a 68 Lemans Blue on blue with tons of docs, POP, maintenance records and J.M. certified.   Jerry was praising this one during the auction and the sell price went at $100K on the button.  Was gorgeous to say the least and I also believe it was all original metal.   Jerry had told me during our brief conversation that he had once certified this while it was going thru it's restoration process.

I just got these pics from the buyer via the phone.  It's new home is Maryland and I was told about 12 miles from J.M.

Thanks Darrell , thats a good looking Z. Maybe the new owner will jump on here and give us some more info about it.

I hope everyone took notice, and we see more legit cars.

(Although when you throw in buyers premium and sellers premium seems a bit out there)
