How are you looking at it?
Do you mean like re-listing all the parts separately on eBay or back on craigslist? Or bringing it all to a swap meet?
Seems like it would take some personal time to try and get that last 500 or so out of it.
I like finding a good deal like everyone else and having a small amount of my personal time in turning it over to dollars, maybe I am missing something here.

Austin , I like the way you think, I would have to drive 4 hours up and back in a 1976 Ford that get's 10 miles per gallon, plus sell the big stuff no C.L small stuff on Ebay maybe. Jeff did say in a email to me 3K  OBO. I offered him as much as I'm willing to pay, maybe you guys can get more back east for the parts or easier to sale, but not to easy out here. I'm not willing to hold on to the parts.

Well I can tell you how I am looking at it.  For someone NEEDING the parts or ACCUMULATING parts for a future project, this seems like a good deal if you can get the price down maybe just a bit.  I bet for someone that actually goes there and looks at the stuff, there is more there than what you can see in the pics.  There ALWAYS is.  Trust me.  I have done that more than once.

If you are just planning to buy it to flip it and make money, well it might be best to let someone else have a chance at it.

It's not always about the money.  In the past I have given away parts that I did not need to someone else that did need them.

Just my opinion, and doesn't mean anyone has to agree with it.

I would agree with some of what you are saying Bryon, but it would be hard for me to give away parts that i did not need if I was taking a loss on the totality of the deal. So its not always about the money, when you may have little invested, but some of us need to operate at a positive cash flow to be able to continue to participate in the hobby side of collecting cars/parts. It is easy(no scratch that)- it is easier to explain to my wife the cost involved with the hobby if it pays for itself. Remember gas/oil changes/maintence on these cars cost money as well, so to avoid a continual loss year after year it is ideal to make at least a little bit of money. Getting a good initial deal means not having to ask a "KINGS" ransom when selling, and selling parts for reasonable prices helps the hobby (as a whole) out as well.
I am not independently wealthy and I am not old enough to have a huge pension, or retirement savings account to draw from, so this is only my small perspective with situations similar to these.
I am just attempting to not go broke, while enjoying it for what it is. ;D

Bryon, you make some very good points ,someone buying the parts for a project car they have or wanting to keep them long term. They look like nice rust free mostly original used parts and I would love to hold them but can't at this time. Your right there is value for the right person.

I am out for buying the parts.  So there won't be any competition from me.  But it they were local, I would have already been there.

I am accumulating parts right now for a project.  Have not found the right car yet, which will be with/for my son.  His top 2 choices would be a 69 Nova, 67-69 Camaro.  Any parts and probably the car itself will be a gift.  Something to pass along to the next generation. I have already given him a truck, a car and a Jeep. He will probably end up with my cars too at some point.

Giving away extra parts or selling them CHEAP to a friend that needs them just seems like the right thing to do.  But that is just me.   :)

It depends on what the source of those parts was.
One 4-speed shifter setup, some rare small parts from a Z, etc would make the deal worth it.

Real issue is liquidating what you don't need, which takes time and effort.

That's a nice bulk purchase for someone building a car or inventory for future jobs. GM fenders even with lower rot are worth 200 each. Any of that GM metal is valuable, not to mention any other parts. I have a job to do and that would be a perfect buy. The seller would have been better off selling the rotten carcass with all the parts; he would have gotten more than 3K.

I sent him an email asking what happened to the body hull...  "What happened to the body hull?  It almost looks like you have everything off it laying there?"

His response:  "Body, after I sand blasted it, was all rusted out. Sent it to the scrap yard. Kept most everything else plus I bought a lot of new parts. Jeff"

So that appears (as it looked in the photo).. that he had all other parts to the car....  a great buy for someone nearby..  IMO....
